Take Down Arrows?

Any one making or using take down arrows?

I made some years ago. They were fair at best. Not worth the effort.
Getting the right spine correct was an issue.

I have spliced some arrows , adding length from the nock end. This makes the spine a little stronger but not enough to bother my shooting.

My take-down cedar arrows are wonderful to pack together with a take-down recurve or longbow. Really compact...

I made some aluminum takedown arrows once. Interesting exercise, but not worth the effort, IMO.

The bow is the longest part of the package, so standard arrows would be shorter than most limbs anyway.

I decided you guys might be right..they flew straight but not worth the effort.

I cut some aluminum shafts in half. Put an insert in both halves. used a 8/32 bolt, threaded into one of the inserts using lock tite. Shaft could be screwed apart/together. Performance was poor.

Ditto the above.  I was given a set of the inserts with the male stem for 2217, so I make up a dozen takedown.  I did 12" on the fletch end and 18" on the point.  They did not perform near as good as full arrows and seemed to come loose at the joint too easy.

The only good news was they packed very nicely in a shotgun packing case with my takedown bow (3 piece) for airplane travel.

Was not pleased with grouping at any distance but was passable to 25 yrads for hunting.

Have not been on a fly-in for years and sold the works to a 'dude' in Alaksa.
