May the memories of good times always outweigh the pain of such a loss. I too had a mentor like Charlie. While you had many more years of mentoring than I, my good friend Bob passed away a little over a year ago. I learned a lot about turkey hunting, and tradtional archery from Bob.
a couple morning ago, I was working a hot tom, had him gobbling his head off, and called him in to 25 yds. He never offered me a clear shot, but I could feel Bob's hand on my shoulder when my leg got to shaking.

I think of him often, as you will too. He may be gone from here, but will always live on in memories of good times, and when you use the skills he taught you.
...stood alone on a montaintop, starin out at a great divide, I could go east, I could go West, it was all up to me to decide, just then I saw a young hawk flyin and my soul began to rise......

Goddam cancer.
I will not forget your good friend. The pics show a generous man who loved the outdoors and a good laugh.

You are so fortunate to have known him so well.

Long, long afterward, in an oak I found the arrow, still unbroke;
And the song, from beginning to end, I found again in the heart of a friend.

Some people leave more behind than others.

His footsteps continue through yours.

Be brave. Sorry for your loss.

Sorry to hear. My sympathy goes out to his friends and family.
