Beautiful bow brudda, those pupils of Jim all have their acts together. The goats and pigs up on da mauna better run & hide well!

Thanks bruddah JC!  I hope I have time to chase some hogs this weekend.

I also want to mention that South has a Schleyer Model, named after Bart Schleyer. Here is the info from his website.

The Schleyer—Limited and numbered edition

A couple of years ago, I sat down and watched one of the best outdoor dvds I've ever seen, Primal Dreams.  If you haven't seen it yourself, I strongly recommend it.  At the end of the movie was a dedication to a man named Bart Schleyer.  A short time later, I read Mike Mitten's tribute to Bart in Traditional Bowhunter Magazine and learned about Bart Schleyer, his life and how it was tragically cut short.  Though I never met him personally, his story resonated with me.  Bart possessed all of the attributes I believe every bowhunter should strive for; he was humble, selfless, an excellent woodsman, conservationalist, athletic—one who's wealth was measured not in financial terms, but in experiences and friendships.  To get a true perspective on who this man was, I strongly encourage you to read the passage Mike Mitten, a close friend of Bart's, wrote after his passing.  I have included a link to it,  http://www.brothersofthebow.com/html/solospirits.html

When Bart passed, he left behind a four year old son, Artyom.  Bart's sister, Claudia, set up a fund to help put Artyom through college.  Thought it has been almost two years since I first read Bart's story, it has never been far from my mind.  I've wanted to give back to a man that so selflessly gave to others and exhibited such high moral and ethical standards.  I wanted to do more than just contribute financially to Artyom's future, I wanted to help in what little way I could to make sure the story of his father was not forgotten; that more, hopefully many more hunters and non-hunters alike would read of him and be inspired by his life, as I have been.

After much ruminating, I decided the best way I personally could honor Bart, would be to build a limited edition bow in his honor.  The Schleyer will be limited to 100 bows, all signed and numbered.  Each one will be built to the bow length and draw weight specifications of the shooter.  The handle will be a Striker handle, with ebony and snakewood.  The limbs will be backed with ziricote and faced with leopard wood.  From the proceeds of each sale, $100 will be donated to Artyom's college fund.
