I knew we had a huge bird population, but in the first 5 days of season, in Wayne Co., KY, there have been nearly 270 gobblers killed as of 11am today! That is nearly twice as many as any previous season, with a lot of season left to go.I know we had a huge hatch last year, really wet year so they had plenty to eat, and places for the poults to hide. Chime in guys, would like to see the numbers.

Overall the turkey situation is terrible in Arkansas. We didn't have a fall season because of low turkey numbers. First time that's ever happened to my knowledge. The Spring season which is open now was cut down to 17 days. I have yet to hear a turkey so far, not seen one either. Season opened April 10th and I've hunted 6 mornings. Lot's of people around here (REAL GOOD TURKEY HUNTERS) have yet to kill one with a shotgun. Couple of places where I can hunt usually have a few birds, it's always tough but never have seen it this bad, and I've been chasing them for about 35 years. Our turkey biologist with AG&FC keep saying it was a bad hatch every year, but I think there is more to it than that.In this area we have a huge population of coyotes, bobcats possums, coons, fireants, armadillos and a lot of other stuff that could have an effect on the turkey population. I just hope it gets better, I'd be happy right now just to hear one.  :help:    "[dntthnk]"

They are like wabbits up here. I saw 17 gobblers last night inside of an hours scouting. This morning I saw 12 in the first 45 minutes of light. Season opens Monday so I'm keeping close tabs on them.

Numbers must be good here in southern Ontario with each hunter allowed two bearded birds in the spring and any one bird in the fall in my county. As far as a visual or audio, I've been out scouting quite a bit and it looks really good from what I've seen in the fields and the gobblers I've heard in the woods!!

They are in awesome numbers here in West central VT.The next town south of me,Pawlet,is one of two towns where VT F&W released birds to rebuild the pop back in the 70's(The other being Hubbardton).Pawlet and Middletown Springs, which borders our east are hands down the best turkey hunting in my area.

Our season kicks in the 1st.Looking forward to it.

they say the numbers are great here now, but im seeing less this spring than in the last few.  maybe the birds have just moved a bit from their usual haunts...
