i just picked up a used shrew carbon classic hunter serial number G176-1007. wanted to try a 54" bow before i ordered a new classic hunter. was wondering if anyone could give me any information on the bow.

onewhohasfun

Pretty simple really. The bow was made by Greg Coffey, the 176th shrew he has made, in Oct. of 2007

I don't choose the deer, the deer chooses me.

i am sure i will like it, shot a 58 inch super shrew. shot amazing. still trying to decide what limb cores and veneers to order on the new one. thinking carbon/foam with zebra wood veneers, maybe stag tip and riser overlays

You will like the Shrew Classic Hunter. Your ideas on your new bow sound like good ones.

I like the foam/core in my 56" classic hunter (I've also got a 58" Samurai).  I've got the brown stained curly birch veneers and I think it's the cat's meow.  Zebra wood would've been my second choice. As far as stag tips, I like mine as small as I can get them and it seems like stag ends up being a little 'bulkier' for lack of a better term.  Also, all my bows are hunters and I don't like anything white waiving around to catch the eye of turkeys or deer, but that's just my two cents worth.

Bottom line is they're a great bow. It's wonderful when we have 'hard choices'.

I've got a 56" classic hunter-carbon that has carbon on the front and back. A great bow. I tried the 54" but found the finger pinch to be distracting.

that sounds like a bow i'd order 4 myself.
u have goooood taste in hunting implements. :-)

I am waiting, the bow i just bought should be here on the 28 and then i can make the final decisions and then give ron a call.
