Early season turkeys or late season turkeys, which is better/easier?

No question is "stupid" in my opinion, b.glass (except when "the media" asks things like, "How did that make you feel?", in it's many variations). However, it is kinda like asking, "Which is better, Italian Food, or Pizza?" (some folks who love Italian food, don't care for pizza - and some who love pizza wouldn't go out of their way for "Italian food") Just very subjective, depends on who your talking to, and when they've had their best luck, I'd think. Like they say about deer hunting (or any other kind) - go hunting any time you can best fit it in, and enjoy.

I prefer early season before they are run around & over hunted!

I only have a early season here and don't get out there as much as I should.

I prefer to hunt them in spring season, but have taken a few in fall and they just taste better in the fall!!  If your asking just about spring season I perfer to hunt early part first couple weeks!!

I guess I didn't do a good job of asking the question. It is spring season right now in Indiana. We have a Youth Only turkey weekend right now. I've heard some say "They are all henned up in the early part of the season it's better when it is later in the season". However for the drawing on state park property it seems most people try for the earlier drawings. So which is best. The first few days of the season or the last few days of the season.

Would the youth have a better chance if they set up a couple of days at the end of the season? I know my son would have a better chance if he had a better mentor!  :)

Just like with deer, the sooner the better

I like late season. Hens are leaving the Gobblers early in the day and mid day hunting is sweet....plus I can sleep in like that.RC

depends on your area and hunting pressure where i hunt there is little pressure yearly season the birds are all henned up they dont talk as soonas they hit the ground later season they are out looking and are much more willing to talk to me  :)

b.glass you asked the right question,I misunderstood as I hunt them spring and fall both, Anyway, I prefer the early part of spring season, But right now I've been watching my flock for two weeks and they are hen'd up at fly down all this past week, but 9:30 the toms are lonely, This is here and may be different else wheres' It does however seem kinda early for this henning up!

at least around here, i think early is sometimes a little too early.  later works great here.
is it September yet??

Its all bout timing in my opinion.  Dates really havent got anything to do with it!  It has to do with the temps, how rough the winter was, how early it got warm.  Right now it is perfect around my house, but it will probably just be getting started where we hunt a hour west, they are generally two weeks behind us in the winter spring changeover.  So there will be no greenery, whereas around here everything is green!  Not to be a downer, but if they are already hened up then it is probably already the "late season"!  Usually around here they are done there stuff and henned up by the second week in may!?!?  All about location, climate, and what the turkeys feel like  :)
