The Asbell grip all the way for me. The standard grip has always felt like a hatchet blade in my hand. My PSA is Asbell.

First off, I have big hands. All the Widow's I have owned were the standard grip and they shot well. At the Spring TBOF shoot this year, BW had a tent set up with all there different bows to play with. Without question, the Asbell grip was a much better fit for my hands vs the standard grip. It actually felt like it was made to fit my hands and I shot at least 8-10 of there bows!! I am planning on ordering a new 60" PCHX in the near future and it will have the ASBELL GRIP!!      :bigsmyl:    :bigsmyl:    :bigsmyl:

Steve O, I have owned both and know just what you are talking about with the standard grip.  Asbell is definitely the way to go.

I'll try and remeber this thread and post back tomorrow.  All of the Widows I've owned had the Asbell grip, but I'm demoing a PMA with a standard grip (to see how it feels).  I shot them at Kalamazoo, but didn't spend much time with the non-Asbell gripped bows.  The Asbell grip feels so natural to me, I've yet to find a grip that suits me as well...Mike

This is a picture from "Instinctive Shooting II", by G. Fred Asbell and you can certainly see why  greater palm swell is in order with his successful and very distinctive grip on a recurve.  Hope it's OK to show a pic from your book Fred.
