I just got in a new shaft from Arrow Dyanmic's.  It's overall heavy in wt and spine.  The bare shaft wt is 475 grns.  I am not sure of the spine, I put in on my spine tester and it bottomed my tester out, somewhere at 130 lbs on 28" centers.  I will get a more exact spine soon.

They are based on the Hammerhead series and have the same tapered design.  The shafts are so new they don't even have a name yet.  These will be great shooting from bows of 70+ lbs.  If anyone is interested getting some, let me know.  They will have the same price as the Hammerheads.

Interesting....might have to look into getting a few of those...

What kind of insert can be used with these?

Do you know how much approximate point weight would be necessary on those for 75 to 80# bows drawn 29 cut to 30 inches or so?

Looking for a Cape Buffalo arrow and these sound like they might be the ticket.

I will be looking into them with you soon.

Thanks

Paul, do they use the same nocks as the Traditionals?

These shafts use the same nocks and inserts as the Trad and Trad Lites.  AD is also in the process of making brass inserts that will fit  the Hammerheads larger OD.

Steelhead,
You will could easily go with a 100gn brass insert and a 300gn head, more wt can be added to to the back of the insert if needed.

Sounds about perfect for a cape buff arrow at 875 grains

Thanks for the response

I did some weighing and FOC and GPP tonight on some arrows that I have.

So a bare shaft AD at full length is 400 grains.

I added 100 grain brass inserts and got the following results...not sure if they will fly out of my bow but I wanted to record the starting points for these three arrows.

If the Safari's don't work out or are to heavy i will sell them to someboy cheap that has a higher poundage bow though.

First number is arrow weight with insert in

Second number is tip weight

Third is total weight

The GPP is based on 58#

AD - 500 + 315 = 815 - balance point is 24.5 = FOC 25.38 = GPP = 14.05
AD - 500 + 165 = 665 - balance point is 22.5 = FOC 19.23 = GPP = 11.47
MFX - 340 = 550 + 165 = 715 - balance point is 20.25 = FOC 15.85 = GPP = 12.33
MFX - 340 = 550 + 200 = 750 - balance point is 20.5 = FOC 12.12 = GPP = 12.93
MFX - 340 = 550 + 315 = 750 - balance point is 22.25 = FOC 17.42 = GPP = 14.91
Grizzly safari - 672 + 165 = 837 - balance point is 21.5 = FOC 15.15 = GPP = 14.43
Grizzly safari - 672 + 200 = 872 - balance point is 21.75 = FOC 15.91 = GPP = 15.03
Grizzly safari - 672 + 315 = 987 - balance point is 23 = FOC 19.70 = GPP = 17.02

Just thought you might be interested. MFX are cut to 29.5 but the rest are full length ready to try to tune.

They look just like the other Wood Grain AD's.

I talked with Glen Jr. at Arrow Dynamic's, the new name for the shafts are Hammerhead Heavy Wts.

I'm interested. Thanks for posting. Might have to try some of those.

I couldn't even imagine trying to pull a bow like that.  I bet these arrows will work.
