Hey Guys,

I am just curious if anyone has completed a Turkey Grand Slam?   I am curious how you did it, what the cost were, etc...

Trad Ganger "Joebuck" is the man!  Maybe some others, but he has. Heck I think he may have a "World Slam"...   :notworthy:

Need my Osceola to complete mine.  I leave in less than two weeks to try to get it done!  Wish me luck, Lord knows I'll need it!  ;)

Horner

Curt,
I am really surprised you have never went for the turkey slam.  When I think about turkey whacking machines, I always think of you.  It always seems like you got a nice arrowed bird pic to share with us every time season comes in, Spring or Fall does not matter, you always seem to GET-ER-DONE.

What would you attempt to do, if you knew you could not fail?

Still sitting on my last Rio to finish mine with the recurve, but something always comes up that keeps me from completing it, this year it is a new outboard for the bowfishing boat, but am going down to FL the end of March and shoot another Osceola, but mostly to get this one on camera and of course chase some hogs.  Someday I will complete it!
They'll be no quitters till we bag us some critters!

I think Joey still needs one of them funky way-far south birds for a World Slam.  What's it called, Ocsellated?

We started a $20 per person fund to put Joey on a train to South Mexico but I think he got nervous when we told him no worries, the water is fine.....

LITTLEBIGMAN

I need an Osceola. Someday soon, ihope to make a trip south and give it ashot.

I think Joey gottem all. I know all north american. And with out a blind. and a bow and calls he make himself. My hats off to him. DB

Do they consider hybred turkey's into the equation?
The man who thinks he can and the man who thinks he can't are both right!!!

Horner, thanks for the kind words bud, but I've never, for whatever reason, traveled to hunt turkeys....someday I'd sure like to try for my grand slam.I've got the Eastern covered...just need the time and $$ for the rest....

"do they consider hybreds"...I don't believe the do.

Joey would know....

I am missing the Osceola and hopefully that will happen soon mostly it is a money issue I can either hunt Osceolas or make my yearly trip to the midwest and that is a trip that I cant pass up. I thought maybe this spring I could do both but my oldest daughter is graduating college in May and getting married in October. My youngest daughter is graduating high school in May and starting college in the fall so not happening this year maybe next year.

I think Joey got the world slam. Seems like I remember an article about it...could be wrong.Heck of a feat. I struggle to kill one every 2 or 3 years.Hogs always draw me more.RC

Doesnt the "Slam need to be done in the same year? If not ive got the Eastern and Merriams completed 5 fold and then some more on the Eastern by himself!

Joey had a thread on TG about two years ago and shared with us his Gould's hunt in Mexico.  Unless something has changed he hasn't gone for Ocellated which you can see from the map at the above link is a ways away from home, even from where Joey lives in the DEEP south.  I still have $20 to pitch in to the send Joey to Mexico fund.

Only some rich control freek would suggest they all have to be shot in the same year and impose such silly rules on an informal goal.

RC

I`ll throw 20 in as well but with a catch. Joey can`t take Biggie or Marty...it`ll take our 40 bucks for one breakfast alone....RC

Should we send iodine tablets with him, lol?

Turkeys are my nemisis! I have been trying for 5 years to connect with one of those birds, and the closest I have come is a Tom 60 yards away laughing at me. As  matter of fact , He would have probably flipped me the "bird" if he could have. All I can say is wow to anyone who takes these wise birds year after year with traditional stuff!

I will be watching this thread. Im looking foward to learning something.
