I bought my first takedown recurve, and wondered is there supposed to be some sort of "gasket" between the limbs and riser?  like cork or rubber..

Thanks, Jason

You can add it. I just use camo mole skin to help keep the bow quiet, Also add some Bow hush/puppys

BOWMARKS

I can not say they all do but Bob Morrison put's a cork gasket between his takedown's .

My take downs have a small plastic wedge in between the limb and riser.

Have used 1/32 cork and felt and both have worked well.

I've had two Predators and they had/have a gasket where the limbs meet the riser. It's a very thin, black material.

I use a thin piece of leather between the riser and limbs on mine.

I cut gaskets out of a plastic baggie.  Super thin, does not absorb moisture, limb fits tight to the riser, can't hardly see it even if it does stick out a bit and removes all limb/riser creak which is the main reason to use a gasket.

Steelhead

I like cork or rubber.I dont like to use any other material.Water can seep in between the joint and lead to problems. If you hunt in the rain it will get in thier with leather or felt and most other materials.

I use felt, but I think all the others will work great.  Mine didnt have one, but my buddy bought a take down with felt there and my bow would occasionally creek when i drew or let down.  SO I added one, and it works great

I've had a few take down's that had cardboard or felt material in them but my silvertip didn't come with anything and it don't make a peep! Jason
