What is your comfort zone or range during a actual hunt.Mine is around 14yrds.I like to hang a stand as close as possible in a funnel situation.

I think comfort zone and range are totally different things.  My range is about 30 yards, but my comfort zone, or more so the comfort zone that nature has chosen for me is about 22 yards.  Seems like most of the shots I get are around there, and that is fine with me.  Of course there are outliers, but only in the closer area.  I wont take shots past 30 yards on Big game.  But I have taken shots past 50 yards on small stuff!  Never connected, so those are just hail mary's!

25 yds.  I seldom see deer at that range.  They are usually closer or farther, but up to 25 I'm confident.  Don't much like shots under 15 though.  Seems I'm almost always too high!!!

Guys have problems shooting high at close range from tree stands.  The basic issue is they fail to lean at the waist, to get their upper body in line with the shot.  It's a very common problem actually.

I quit using tree stands quite a few years ago now, and am much more comfortable out to about thirty yards.  That said, the last half dozen deer I have taken were well within twenty yards, and the last two within twelve.

Hunting from the ground allows for better access to both lungs, and more pass through shots.  And, it's just as easy to get close.

I like the deer to be between 15 and 30 yards.  Too closea and you just can't seem to get both lungs, too far and the margin for error vanishes.

Well guys my comfort range is under 20 yards.
I just don't want to chance a bad hit. Just
being in the woods and seeing whats around
me is my comfort range

Closer the better, but I have no qualms about shooting out to 25 yards.  The deer I got in 09' were at 20 yards with wheels and 22 yards with my Lee TD Hunter.

The average range of all the critters I've bumped off with bow in the last 18 or so years is 21.5 yards...

I won't shoot at whitetails past about 20 yards with a barebow.

Out to about 20 yards, maybe if things are right a smidge more. I really like 12-15 but thats not always possible!

My longest kill was 22yds...closest 8ft,but I prefer them 15 or under

30 yards, but probably 90% of the deer I seen last season was within 15 yards. If I was to pick 15 to 18 yards would be great! Jason
