making a tab is too easy and perhaps better than a store bought one since you can better tailor it to yer hand and fingers.  most any leather will do, i prefer thin latigo leather ...

Mine look identical to your, Rob.  

You don't need a lot of frippery on a tab.  Slick leather and a hole or lace to keep it on your hand.  Most of the rest is marketing.

Jeff, cordovan is very slick and durable. You can get it from several leather dealers. I believe that Brutten Village and Siegle both sell it. If you can't find it let me know. I'll did into my vanishing supply. It won't be cheap.
