I just received a used 3 piece slammer and was wondering what brace height you guys are using. Right now I am at 7". I have sent an e-mail to Leon for his advice, but no answer so far.

Thanks.

tukudu

Rick try 7- 7 1/4 from the back of the riser above the throat.. Also I have played around with a few different strings on the slammer and the 450 FF is quiet and performs real well. Enjoy.

tukudu is correct, Leon measures from the back of the rest, not the throat.  7 to 7 1/4 is money!

I think Leon prefers TS-1 on his slammers. It is quiet and preforms very well. If you call him you will get an answer right quick, if he does not answer, leave a message, he WILL call you back.

I'm not sure if TS-1 is the same as ff.  Leon still uses plain old ff.  He is not a fan of any of the new high performance strings.  I believe he is using 15 strand in his strings, he is not building up the tips and serving with monofilament.

Tom is correct on the brace height.

Thanks guys, I will give that brace height a try.  I normally measure from the deepest part of the grip - Leon's way of measuring would explain the 7 1/2" brace height when I first strung up the bow when I got it.
