How is the Bohning Jig and Clamp for a beginner?  I have only used my AZ easy fletch in the past.  Most times I just get them done local.  I would like to start, but don't know if I want to spend the money yet on a Bitzenburger.  I will probably only fletch up a couple doz. shaft a year and do some maintenance.

It'll work great as a starter.  It's essentially the same thing as the old black Grayling jig.  I've still got one, it'll fletch everything I've ever tried on it.

As a tip, the clamps are plastic and will start to gum up with glue the more you use it.  Use some foil tape (like you'd use on duct work) on the clamp edges.  It's thin enough that you won't have any issues clamping things, but it's metal so it'll clean up easy with some acetone.

Thanks for your input.

I goofed up on my search earlier and now I found more info on them.

So I will add a few more questions.

How about the Bearpaw Deluxe Fletching Jig?  They sound good.  Any input would be great.

I think I will use tape.  Sounds easy and fast to do arrows.  Does that work as well with carbon shafts as with wraps?

I have one and it works great! I just started fletching arrows last fall! I would also like to have a Bitz some day but funds are tight so I will stick with my Bohning for now!

I think I will go with the Bohning.  Cabela has them on sale for like $25 and I have some points and gift card to burn up on some stuff.  That will get me going.

If You DO Stay With Fletching Your Own Arrows: You Cannot Go Wrong Investing in a Bitzenberger Jig!!     JMHO.  :archer:

The Bitzenberger is well worth the investment. Adjustments are WAYYYYY easier and the clamp has more weight so it holds the fletching to the shaft better.

I'm telling you this because I don't have one but have used my local shops on several occasions.

Ripforce and I both use Graylings/Bohning. Same thing. They are great but take some setting up. Once you sweet spot them, they work fine. I don't need anything else.

I started with a Bohning jig and it was nice until I got a Jojan it's awesome I'd get one of them before a Bitz

I've used most of the one's mentioned, they all have their perks. Pick the one that you like the best. Learn how use it and start cranking out the arrows.
