Well since the season is almost over for me here in MI.  I like to experiment with different shooting styles.  Do you have to shoot an opposite grip or is it possible to shoot a with a normal grip.  It looks like I could probably get away with a shorter bow (i.e. Black Mountain, Kodiak magnum) and would be able to avoid the finger pinch.  Thanks in advance for any reply's.

An article in one of the magazines a few years ago showed traditional Mongolian archers using thumb rings and putting the arrow on both sides of the bow per their personal preference.

If you notice how the string comes off the fingers with a Mediterranean release(left side) and a thumb ring(right side) it obvious which side of the bow the arrow should be on for either style of shooting.

I have been experimenting with a thumbring this year. I started shooting on the opposite side (right side of the both shooting RH), but that limits me to lefthanded bows. I then started shooting right handed bows (arrow on the left side) with a thumbring and have been having a good deal of success. I think you just have to try and see what works for you.

Here is a link to ATARN.org showing a traditional Mongolian bowyer and archer shooting with the arrow on the left side of his bow. If anyone wants to argue that he doesn't know what he's doing you're free to contact him.

I think I'm gonna have to give it a try.
