I am having my knee operated on, hard to climb trees when you are old, fat, and have a bad knee.  I am looking to stock up on books to read while recovering 3-4 weeks. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks Term
Still looking for something I might of forgot.

Term,
I had a knee replacement about 18 months ago so I know what you are facing. Get a bunch of books. You will have to spend many hours on an exercise bike and a book makes the time pass. Also, and this is important, be very serious about the physical rehabilitation work. You will have to work hard and put up with some pain. You will also go through a bunch of ice (zip lock bags are a must) to get rid of post-exercise pain.
With a titanium knee and a titanium hip I am hiking, hunting, lifting weights and getting around great,  you can do this too. A well equipped weight room at a good gym is a place you will get to know very well.
I wish you well. Do the work and you will be OK. It is difficult, but worth it.

These archery hunting books I couldn't put down;

1. Massey books (any)

2. Saxton Pope, Hunting with the Bow & Arrow

3. Witchery of Archery, Thompson

4. Bows on the Little Delta, St. Charles

I've got a copy of Ed Pitchkite's book I'll loan You. Send Me Your address.

I had Bi-lateral Knee replacement in Dec. "06 and read a lot before I found TradGang. LOL

Good luck with Your surgery. Do more therapy on Your own at home and sessions with Your PT will be much easier.

Do what they tell you and you will be better than new (as good as, anyway). If there are any books you would like to read, ask and if I have them I will send them along to you.

Sorry for deviating, but I reckon you will get enough good archery book tips, so I will suggest Bill Brysons 'A Short History of Nearly Everything', at least if you enjoy some science and history  :)

I wish you a speedy recovery!

Also, try reading old TradGang posts, cause there's enough to choose from!

My mother had that done last winter,it was truly an ordeal, she went from reading 2-3 books a week to 0,for all the rehab and pain she endured. Good luck, man

For general conservation/nature Arctic Dreams by Barry Lopez.  Also, if you have never read it, A Sand County Almanac by Aldo Leopold is a great read.  Anything by E. Donnall Thomas or Jay Massey is a great read.

If you really get bored, the US Army Survival manual can be pretty informative.  It is dry but has a lot of useful info if you have never read through it.

Another suggestion is to plan on spending a little time near a window with your binoculars and a bird guide.  Just make sure your neighbors know what you are doing before hand!!

I would bet you have heard of Patrick McManus.  If not, get your hands on every book he has written.  Hilarious stuff.
