What can you guys tell me about the Recluse I am thinking about the 3 pc T/D longbow "Oceola" any info would help not a whole lot out there on these bows

Hot Hap

I think they used to be made by an E. T. Williams in Fl. I believe someone else is making them now. Supposed to be a very fast bow. Hap

My experiences are with ET and I wouldn't want to taint the new guy.

There is no website for them, just a phone number.

The only thing I can say about the one I shot was,Very Loud! Even with cat whiskers added.
We ran it through the crono and it was not any faster than a Bighorn Recurve @ same pountage. But to be fair, this was when ET was building them.

This is for "Coyote 2" I own 6 of ET William's bows one long bow and 5 recurves. No other bow maker builds bow that can compare with ET's bows. My 60# Carbon Spider shoots my 480 grain arrows thru the cronograph at 256 feet per-second. My 50# shoots that same arrow at 232 feet per-second, no hand shock, very smooth and quit. And to be sure no Bighorn recurve can shoot as fast as one of ET's.  My three piece Long Bow from ET shoots that same arrow at 230 FPS. If you have any more questions would be glad to help. I have been shooting ET's bows for over 15 years with no problems with any of his bows I own.

hunt it

Shoot one B4 you buy one, that's all I can say.

I think you should calibrate your chrono. There isn't a 60lb stickbow made that will shootan arrow 256 FPS...PR

256 with a 8 GPP arrow is that at 28" AMO draw 26.25 from the deepest part of the grip?

WestTnMan

I have shot one a friend has. Grip was a little narrow side to side for my likings. It is a good looking bow and shot good. He ordered two of them, one for him and one for his wife. His was 55lbs and hers was 40 something. I liked the lighter poundage one alot better. Pretty quick bow but was a little loud but you could work that out. I never see him shoot either one now but he does have alot of bows. Not a "bad" bow but I think the origional selling point was the speed, remember all the ads, but now most bows are pretty quick.

Shoot one before you buy - wear ear protection - I think the recomended brace height is around 5.25".   And yes, I have shot them, and it was 6 years ago.

Wow 480 grains at 256 fps would be a good speed for any wheel bow at 60#s? Is that possible?

Coming from the dark side to trad my 57# mathews dren at 29" draw spits a 405 grain arrow at 257fps

I think they advertised 212fps at 9gpp with a 30in draw and shooting machine in their ads for their recurve.  So 8gpp and 256 doesn't sound right.  I think the speed is right around the black swan hybrid and acs.  The acs and black swan would be a lot quieter but I don't know about the price comparison.

I've had one of the longbows for about 12 yrs. Tom Curtis is the name of guy that built it. The bow is no louder than any of the other bows I have. It likes a brace height of 5 7/8 or 6". No way does it shoot an arrow at 256, mine shoots at 189fps, 487gr arrow, at 54@28 with carbon and action wood cores. He'll build the handle any way you want and mines a little on the thick side and like everyone else he'll use any core wood you want. It does have a little bit of hand shock but its not any worse than some other bows I've shot. I seem to shoot it better than anything else i've shot but maybe thats because I've been shooting it for so long? Not a bad bow really. I've never shot the recurve so no comment there. ymmv
