I've been hunting with a bow since I was a kid (30+ years) but I've had a hard time getting my 13 and 11 year old sons interested in hunting.  This year the 13 year old attended the ETAR at Denton Hill with me where I bought him a Red Wing Hunter.  He's been shooting it ever since.

Since my wife and younger son didn't have trad bows, I just purchased each of them a bow off of ****.  I got the boy a Shakespeare Yukon in 35# and got the wife a Shakespeare X-26 Wonderbow in 40#.  Both were at least as well as advertised, in fact the wife's bow is like new.

I went out and watched them shoot for awhile and then I took the 40 pounder and shot it a bit myself.  Wow, I shot that bow as well as any recurve I've ever handled.  It's a bit light for deer and a bit lighter than what I'm used to but I shoot it so well that I'm actually considering hunting with it.  For what it's worth, it's not that I'm stealing her bow, she's interested in shooting but won't hunt anyway.

It's always nice to get a new toy and have it turn out better than you had hoped.  Hopefully this will encourage my wife and sons to keep shooting.

I know about them "Wonderbows".   I bought one off e*** for $75 and she shot so good, and was so much fun I got hooked back to the world of Trad, and I love it.   :archer:
