Errant arrow flight with broadheads

Arrow flight with field point is dead straight but when a broadhead (multiple heads tried)is shot the arrow hits tail high by several inches. Will a broadhead change the spine of an arrow? RP

Are you saying that the broadhead is hitting the target lower than the field point? If that is the case than the problem isn't arrow spine it's your nocking point. If your broadheads are hitting lower than your field points you need to lower your nocking point on your string.

Assuming BH weights are the same, are you using screw-in or glue-on? 2-blade or multiple? Did you spin test beforehand?

I agree with SpikeMaster.  Make sure your broadheads are straight on an arrow spinner.  A broadhead will exagerate any tuning problems.

Actually it could be many things, including  spine, brace, nock height, type of feathers/vanes, length of broadheads versus field points, etc.  You shouldn't have to lower your nock set to accomodate broadheads, but you could try that first.  If a broadhead is controlling your arrow's flight, it's a steering issue, since your field points are doing fine. You really didn't give us any information on types and weights of heads used.  Misalignment could also be an issue.  Lots of variables.

Sorry for the lack of info. Shooting MOAB LB, 70# at  29.5 with 7in brace ht. Arrows are carbons 30.5 in with wt tubes, approp spine according to the charts, with total arrow wt of 700-725gr. The field points are 250 grain as well as the multiple 125gr broadheads with 125gr steel insert, WW, snuffer, zwicky and 160gr grizzly with 100gr insert. The only I did between shots is change from field pt to broadhead and I immediately have the nocks 4-6in higher at 10 yards. Thanks for any info. RP

Well the bottom line is your arrows are not tuned as well as you thought.  :(   Tune untill you get the broadheads shooting correct and you will see better flight with your feild points.

Try moving your brace height out 7 1/8- 7 1/4- 7 1/2
it will also change your knock point, but don't change it, only do one thing at a time.

You did not say what is your knock height.

If it's to low it can give a false read buy kicking off of the shelf ( mine is 5/8th high ) but every one is different, even on the same bow.

I think this will clean it up, the good news is, once you tune for broadheads your field points will be perfect.

The current brace ht is 7.25 and the arrows spin true but sets of heads. I will try changing the brace ht then the knock pt. The current knock pt is set 3/8 above the rest. Thanks for the first aid. Richard
