I've talked to some people that are getting a lot of hogs moving north into their leases in NC. They're having trouble with hogs tearing up the deer foodplots.  Does anyone know if hogs have shown up on NC public land?

Ive heard of quiet a few hogs around, but not on public land. Still not in numbers like SC and GA. I'll bet in a few years they'll make it on up here. Don

I think they are on pungo pretty heavy now, though this is only heard through the grapevine and some pics. I haven't been looking for them there. Also around cape carteret near  a chiefs house he has seen some, as well as my chief who lives down in hubert he saw one on his 15 acres - him I believe.

I wish there wer a bunch of em! I think they will be here but it is still going to take awhile.

There are some in Caswel county and there are gamelands there. You can't bait there.LH

I ain't seen none around where I hunt.  We do have skunks, coyotes, and fireants in places that we used not to so I'm guessing its just a matter of time.

Yes, I know a guy there in Cape Carteret that brought some up from S.C. and turned them loose in the Croatan Forest around the Great Lake area.  Folks begged him not to do it (except for a few of the redneck locals) and he did it anyway.  A couple of years ago I came across an area where they'd rooted the hell out of the place and made a mess of it.

Great lakes is a huge area dude, as you know I am sure. It will take a few to start populating that area up to be huntable numbers. I know where I have seen the sign but there seems to still be so few that they never hang out one spot long! I figured what sign I saw was an escapee? didnt know anyone dumped some out. WOW.

I talked to a friend (I hadn't seen for awhile)the other day and he told me that he and another friend took 7 out of the Croatan near that area last year. I believe him, for what it's worth (few real specifics to go on).

There are some in the Nantahalla. I've seen them up around Standing Indian.

Yeah the mountains definantly would be the real place to go. They were the originals of the area.
