epoxy problem

OK, I put in my brass inserts and the epoxy came through the hole in the bottom of the insert and filled the threads. How can I deal with this so I can screw in my tips?

You are gonna have to buy a tap and tap out the hole.

Heat it up screw in tips and broadheads and maybe forget about getting them out there is a possibility if you heated the field tips up you screwed in will unscrew if you heat them again and your threads may be ok. Why dont you try a field tip heat it screw it in and heat it and screw it back out and threads may be ok. Let us know how it works out. good luck

try a drill bit smaller than the treads--heat it some [not cherry] run it in there[slow -don't hurt the treads] then try a tap --or a heated field tip--i know the bit will be ruined--but its arrows where savin!!

I believe it takes a 9/32 tap. Every now and then I have to run a tap through the inserts on Gold Tips.
Just take your time and you'll be fine.

Put a large field point in, heat it up (the field point) and pull the brass outa there. Then you can attack that brass insert any way ya like.

yeah, re-tap the epoxied insert threads.

next time, keep the tip end of the shaft up, don't block the insert opening!, clean the inside of the shaft and outside of the insert with naphtha (lighter fluid), use a *thin* smear of quality slow set epoxy (*not* 5 minute epoxy!) over all of the insert's outer "thread", push in and twist the insert, wipe off any excess with a paper towel, leave tip end up during the curing stage.

Just tap it and it will be fine. A cheap tap and handle is a good thing to have around. Heck you can pick them up at Harbor Freight for next to nuthing.

Next time only put epoxy on the sides of the insert. I like to mix the epoxy and kind of roll the back half of the insert in it. JMHO
