Well, now you got me second guessing my bullheads. After grabbing a turkey neck I was already wondering if they would actually do the job. I don't shoot as well as you or I would have found out already. Nice bird. Too bad about the first one.

If you do use the bullheads I would aim for where the head/neck meet. Both of my hits were about 4" from the bottom with his neck stretched out.
In all honesty I have had to pass up great shots waiting for a stretched neck because when they strut the pull it all the way into their body

Thanks everyone. I just feel so blessed to get a bird my first year and a great one at that. i'm still gonna keep at them hard until the end of May.....this time with a little experience under my belt!

My set up was a 49# @ 28" Super Shrew with a 555grain complete arrow, shooting Beeman MFX 400's

Great bird. Bummer about the bullheads.

I had the same experience when I shot a squirrel last Saturday with a judo tip.

I tipped the squirrel over and off of a log, but when I got over there the squirrel was scampering off. The shot was great, but the judo didn't work.

I spoke to a long time trad guy and he said is all he ever uses on large and small game is 2 blade broadheads.

Fantastic job. I had a buddy with a compound bow using bullheads, he hit a bird in the body with 64 pounds and it bounced off like he shot a basketball. He said the same thing if they don't stick their necks out it's a waiting game.

I think the biggest cut on contact broadhead you can find is the way to go. I use the four blade Muzzy Phantoms.
