OK--
so I have a chance to harvest some yew trees  from Oregon--

Is it legal to harvest the yew tree for bow building?

Would it be legal on private property?

What is it that you look for in a yew tree to make the best bows?

Is there a place to purchase yew staves?

Is it legal to sell yew staves taken from private property?

Any and all information about the yew would help

thanks in advance--

Scott

There are varying regulations on public land, so you'd be wise to check with the land manager (forest service, DNR, BLM etc)... On private you can do about anything you want...IF you have permission from the landowner... and yep.. you can buy them at various places on the net and yep...you could sell them...

You just want something nice and straight.. 4 inch diameter or bigger... at least 36 inches of straight....

Have fun!

You might give Ted at Raptor Archery (a TG sponsor) a shout, he has a permit to harvest yew on public land and could likely answer your questions.
