refinish limbs

I have a set of Widow limbs that I want to refinish black.   Is just a good old coat of spray black paint the way to go?   What brand of paint works best?   Does it effect performance (I am guessing very little)?   Maybe a set of  limbs covers, both back and belly?  Any other ideas?

I can't remember which one, but a sponser here that makes the custom arrow wraps also make limb covers out of the same product.  I bet he can do any color you wan including the black and I also saw some of the different snakes and camo.  When you are ready to change, or they get scratched up they remove and are easily enough replaced.

I am going to go that route with some ILF limbs that are silver.

ive seen some ads for camo dipping limbs might be worth callign them seeing if they could dip just a plane black finish

you could get them Camo dipped by sipsey river
or cover them with limb stations / Stickers Pm Onestringer he'l sort you out if you want to go that way!

Kustom King has the cloth/spandex ones that slip over each limb.  They come in several different patterns.  Here is the link:

I use camo duck tape, put it on and when you want it off just peel it off. Works great for me and doesn't look to bad.

The onestringer limb skins look real good and are very durable. Not hard to remove either if you decide to change them. Here's a set of ASAT I did recently.

Is the onestringer a decal? Anyone who has used the decals: are they "easy" to apply? Directions good? Any problem areas / steps to be aware of? I was thinking about some snake skins. Thanks John

It is a sticker for lack of a better term. Just wash the limb surface and apply them to the limb. I have a plastic squeegee that I use to smooth them up the limb and an exacto knife to trim them to fit. Takes about 5 minutes to do a set. I have a set of Copperheads for another bow. Unless you get close or touch them you'd be hard pressed to know they weren't real. He's using a new material now that is real scuff resistant too and doesn't have any shine.

I used to use floral paint,(flat paint that comes in many colors, available at any florist) to remove it later, just use laquer thinner, after removing the paint, just wax the bow , and it will look like new again.
