Guys, The company that makes these cameras private labels them to any company that wants to be a distributor. I have both the Coverts and Scoutguards it's the exact same camera.

Kentucky TJ, I guess I'm out of date (as usual). When I bought mine a few months ago, I read a warning somewhere that there was a ripoff being sold that looks identical to the SG550. I assume the ripoffs are still out there, so I'd be careful.

About the price, I've paid twice as much for a camera that wasn't half as good. For a little over $200 I'm very pleased.

Don, if this is a "rip off" they aren't trying to hide it very well.

Kentucky TJ, I don't think the Covert is the ripoff I was warned about. However, their other model based on the Scoutguard guts seems to have some serious problems.

Kentuc what do the covert cams use for batteries? Their website doesn't mention which batteries are used. I like the idea of using SD cards since my other cameras use the same card.

Jack they take 8 AA's. I buy the energizer lithium blue's. I've also used my eneloop rechargeable's in them as well.
