I have an older Bighorn Custom Takedown Recurve (Asbell Era) that I am planing on selling, but I want to have it refinished first. I know that there is a couple guys on this site that do it. Has anyone had either one of them refinish a bow and how did you like there work and how much did it cost or is the the price different depending on what needs to be done?

Thanks, Rick

Both bowdoc and droptine59 refinish bows. You can find them both in the history and collecting forum. There is even a thread in there that shows some of the work. Both great guys and do great work. I would have a hard time deciding which one to go with!

I'm not trying to hijack your post but I want to ask if either of them would checker your grip when they refinish your bow?

Thanks guys,
I emailed them both with pictures. I didn't know if I am better just selling the bow the way it is or if I should have it refinished first. It is a right handed bow and I switched to left handed a few years ago and it is just collecting dust now.

Thanks, Rick

bowdoc will have the bow looking new and his refi jobs have the best re-sale value.

I just got done stripping a Doug Knight w/2 sets of limbs. Jack Harrison is in the process of finishing spraying now.  Will have 5 coats of catalyzed urethane on the riser.  Not sure of the limbs yet, but probably 3 coats.

I don't know what they charge to refinish, but if it includes actually stripping to bare wood and glass, they don't get enough.
