I recently am shooting a Owl bow. 50# @ 25" 53" long. I shoot laminated birch shafts 50-55 . I don't even cut them so they are 29 to 30 bop and shoot great. It took me along time to figure that out but the folks from this site and help from Ed Scott set me straight. I also shoot some laminated longbows ( Thunderhorn and a Selway ) in which I use the same shafts but cut them to 26" bop and only use 2 5 1/2 " feathers on them and they fly great. Gordie Mickens got me started on that. I think having a short draw is kinda nice , hope your not having any problems.

i have a 25" dl. and i shoot a hoyt gamemaster2 44#( at my draw) full length 2018s w/100gr heads=525grs. and i shoot another gamemaster2 thats 53# and 2018s trimmed.

sputterman

im shooting a bear patriot 50# @ 25.my arrows are 1916 27" long 150gr tips weighing in at 450gr.the only problem i have is finding a bow that has enough spunk with a controlable poundage at my draw to be confident in killing deer sized game or smaller.

sputterman, it sounds like you have gotten it in your head that a shorter draw than 28" is bad.
Not so, not all people can be the same height and arm length. Also, people's shooting styles and anchors with vary their draw as well.

With that said, I'm 5'8" tall and shoot with a clicker set at 26"  55#@26"longbow/ 27" beman 400 shaft with 100grn insert/125grn point.

For years i wanted to be a 27" draw and shot like crap trying to do it. Now that i have shortened things up, i am very happy with my shooting.

My son is 15 and draws about 23". He shoots a 50# @ 28 ACS CX. He kills Hogs with no problems and  gets passthrus on some shots. Watching him kill stuff has affirmed that power and draw length are nice to have but shot placement is trump!

I draw 25" and I think a short draw isn't a big problem a long draw is. It is easy to cut arrows shorter, it's hard to make them longer.   :biglaugh:
The size of the horns don,t matter
as long as it has a good tale.
