Hope someone can help. Have a 66" longbow with a perspective buyer in Austria. I googled USPS and could only find a 60" max. package. Buyer says Fed-ex too expensive. Anyone ship longbows overseas? Thanks, Mark

You'll not gt anyone otherthan Fed-Ex or UPS to carry anything over 60" to Europe. Sorry!

It's a pain in the pants, but as a European we just have to accept the costs. If he's not happy to pay the Fed-Ex charges, it's his tough luck. Wait 'til he get's the Import duty fees!!!

What is the max. width the box can be? If you shipped in say a 3' wide X 5' long box, I think that you would be able to have put a 66" bow in diagonally. Check out the math, but should work.

Max length with USPS is 60" for International shipping.I shipped a 70" longbow to France and I used UPS and it was expensive. It was $122.50 two years ago,but it got there in 6 days safe and sound. If it is over the 60" max you have to use a different shipper and it will get expensive.

thanks guys, and yes it will fit in a 3'x5'box.  Now all I have to do is find that. This may be more trouble than it's worth. I see why I've run across "U.S. sales only" in the classifieds.   :banghead:

Just because USPS doesn't offer a box that big, it doesn't mean that you can't ship something that big.  In the last 6 months I have shipped 2 6o" bows to Europe USPS priority mail.  Shipping cost was about $50 each.  I have the receipts to prove it.  Talk to the post office directly, not the USPS website.  JD

I personally drove to the P.O. and they told me nothing over 60". Thanks to all.

I just received a phone call from one of the first inquiries, and sold the bow pending payment. Thanks, Mark

it`s really a great pity that the costs for us europeans are so expensive, when we want to buy some good american products.
For example: the bow I´ve ordered in the USA is 40% more expensive, then in the states, until it is here in germany.

International shipping priority mail. I just shipped a 66" Robertson to Austrailia. Cost $67 with insurance 6-10 days delivery.

Notice the INT Priority mail description. You need to add the length plus width. I shipped in a 3" PVC tube 68" long by 4" wide.

Shipping lengths are set by the receiving country and are different all over and the rules are posted for each country online.

tj69 the extra cost is tariffs set by your country to try to discourage your buying outside Germany.

Yup, there's not much that can destroy the satisfactory feeling of receiving a new bow more than getting a little slip in the mail saying "we have you bow in storage, please log onto the website below and pay us 30% of your bow's value, or we will return it to the sender!"     :scared:

Just looked at the USPS regs...they don't list a size limit for Global Priority Mail (GPM), but the weight limit is 4 lbs.

If you don't have one, try to get the reg. book.  Some postal workers don't know the regs, and won't bother to look them up.

Got the "gimme 30% of your bows value + shipping" letter yesterday, and on top of that, a 25$ administrationfee for taking my money.
