I'm retiring in April and Melanie and I will be traveling in our fifth wheel and working seasonally doing fun things in pretty places!  This has been our goal and plan for the past several years.  Here's the good part!  We've landed jobs May-Oct. at a hunting/fishing lodge in Wyoming.  While the duties for each of us will vary depending on need, I'm already committed to guiding some bow hunters in Sept. The lodge is next to the Wind River wilderness area and most of the hunts take place there by horseback. In the past the lodge has catered to both bow and rifle hunters but the owner wants to emphasize the bowhunting and trout fishing in the future.  They have a great web-site, but I'm not sure I can mention it (If I can, mod, please let me know.)  I'm already encouraging the owner to become a Tradgang sponsor.  The summer months will be spent doing some guiding for trout and getting to know the area.  We're a bit excited!

Congratulations !!!!!!

I spent some time in that area....Dubois. A very beautiful area and I'm hoping to go back sometime soon. Best of luck to you and your wife. That sounds like MY kind of retirement.

In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities. In the expert's there are few...So the most difficult thing is always to keep your beginner's mind...This is also the real secret of the arts: always be a beginner.  Shunryu Suzuki

The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

Mods gave me permission to post the lodge's web-site.  Take a look at boulderlake.com.  Let me know what you think!

Fantastic that sounds wonderful good for you please enjoy. With this economy I am 51 and I am not sure I will ever be able to retire -- 3 kids through college, 1 through grad school and the youngest about to enter Optometry school. We are educational rich and financialy poor yet I would do it all over again. Our Children are our legacy. Maybe I will be as lucky as you were to find such a great retirement job, I am sure you made your own luck. Nice story thanks for sharing and good luck Jerry.
