every mourn brought forth a noble chance, and every chance brought forth a noble knight-wiston churchhill

You're not crazy.  That's something I hope to do myself one day.

One day.....

I believe aerial targets would be a great way to train for taking one on the fly.

You may be crazy, but as Waylon says "it'll keep you from goin' insane."

I've never done it, but it seems like getting into a blind and decoying/calling them in, just like you'd do with a shotgun gives you the best chance for a good shot.

I've never tried it but you could tether a baloon at various heights.

That sounds like a fun idea.

I've not seen tethered geese at various heights.    :saywhat:    Shoot at the balloons while the air current takes them away, or try some thrown discs.

RAU

There wa a thread on here in the last week or so with 2 guys that did it recently and they had pics and all

There was a thread started a very short time ago about a gentleman just did the same thing. Looks like he did a great job seeing the pic he posted. Anyone out there know what that thread was called

what you need is a buddy that will throw a frisby over your head, for passing shots and a stalling one for landing geese,  the passsing one is much more dificult

The Great Jashu

Hook up with some guys that hunt geese a lot. If they are good at it they will put them at your feet. That will make it easier to make the shot.
No hunter should feel guilty for killing a deer that doesnt meet someone else's expectations.

I like shooting the aerial disks like 3 Rivers sells.  Its challenging and fun.

I hope to accomplish something similar next fall.  I have a college buddy that is an avid duck hunter (I used to be before I moved to Montgomery, AL) and I have been priming him to locate a good blind location in a beaver pond or slew of Weiss where I might can get some ducks cupping.  I know I can score if we can just locate the right spot.

On average, each Fall between Sept-Nov we probably kill 100 honkers in the fields around my farmstead.

I too have thought about doing this.  Not at all unusual to land birds within 10 feet of the blinds and there would be plenty of time to get a good shot off with a recurve before they get beyond 20 yards...

Sounds like a plan to me. Your friend thinks your crazy,,,,he's still shooting a compound. Have him try the flying disks with his bow.

I had my nephew toss those yard signs (political signs) in the air. They work great and stop an arrow well.  It's fun!  Also had him roll skeet on the ground and shot them.  That was hard but a great challenge.  I put some 2 blade magnus on and started to bust the skeet up good  :D  .
Treat others as you would want to be treated.

I tried it a couple times hunting on the horicon zone in central Wis.  Only got one although I knocked a couple wing feathers out of two more but no damage done.  The one I got, I had to run down in a very muddy corn field which was actually on the grounds of Waupan prison.  When I finally fell on the goose with about 10 pounds of gumbo on each boot, I rung it's neck and started trudging back.  The honker revived and liked to whip the snot out of me with his wings.  I fell on him again and cut his throat.  As I got up to leave, I saw the guards in the prison towers laughing their a**es off.
