Cuttin' Osage

Not a bad day in the woods! Most of the OJAM gang harvested a little gold today. The stack has 49 staves and there are 6 "half" logs going to the sawmill for some BBO bows. The largest tree was ~22 in diameter and this was from only two trees.

Thats some good stuff. I might be able to do that in say....twenty years if any of the seedling survived this recent cold...

Good haul and fun work! I can tell by the long shadows it took most of a day to cut and split!

When cutting osage, I always wonder how they did that with only stone tools? Bet they didn't regularly cut 22" trees though??? They probably went for the easier limbs and much smaller trees they found having usable ring growth.

Thanks for sharing the pic. After you get them slats cut and dried, I'd like to horse trade you all for one!!!
