Three under question

I was shooting my custom curve the other day and had never tried three under, I had always shot split. But my buddy talked me into trying three under and I noticed that it was very comfortable and i began to anchor shoot overall better groups. But my curve was made/tillered for split under. Is it safe for me to continue shooting three under? Will three under affect this bow? or is this no big deal at all.

No big deal, you won't hurt the bow.

Some say your bow will shoot louder if you shoot 3 under on a split tillered bow, I shoot 3 under and can't tell the difference!

As stated no harm to the bow, you may need to raise your nocking point a bit going to three under, check with your bareshaft.

I had to raise my nock point a little... Otherwise my Zipper is set up "normal". that s it is tillered normal.

I did notice more noise until I added brush buttons along with my otter fur silencers, especially with FF string.

I shoot 3 under with my longbow and my curve to keep from pinching the nock. I simply tie dental floss at a higher point than normal. Works great for me and more consistent.

The only thing is to make sure your nocks aren't so loose as to more easily cause a dry fire.

I shoot three under and am very particular about nock fit.The nock must be loose enough that the string will turn freely in the nock throat but still give a little snap on fit.

I'm going to give the new accunocks a try.They seem like they could be just the thing for me.

The only thing you'll hurt by shooting 3 under?........the competition! I started shooting that way several years ago and never looked back. I've shot many bows that way and none were tillered for 3 under.

Won't make a bit of difference. The only bow I ever had tillered for 3 under shot a bit more quietly but no better than any of my others.

The Trad axiom is that you will need to shoot a higher nock point with 3 under. However I shoot 3 under with a T-300 rest and find all my bows tune out with a +3/8 to +4/8" high nock point, which is not particularly high...
