Fooled me! It has a beautiful grain and coloration that looks more like what one sometimes sees in an exceptional piece of Pau Ferro, but I can understand how the odd Macasser Ebony tree could produce wood like that. I would love to have some of that in a bow! Lucky!!!!!

QuoteIt is Macassar Ebony.C. One really nice and different than the normal "blackish" dark(which I also like). Every blue moon one great piece of wood comes around. This one is so cool with the black lines running through the stock.
Here is my Blacktail made with Macassar Ebony. Took a lot of phone calls and emails to find this piece.

Wow Mike, that is one super riser! I have seen a picture of a huge table made with a close ebony color & grain. Went for a large fortune $$. What a "blond/honey" ebony. That , I am guessing now, cocobolo(?) on the lower & upper wedge. You could just hang that bow on the wall for art. Yet would be bad karma for the bow.

MMGRODE; Larry & Dan found a slight "floater" in the phenolic/fiberglass and had to do some extra work to save this riser. I can only see a slight difference where it was.  They did a great job. I am SOOOOOOO happy they could save this one.

I really like Pau Ferro. The best stock I have seen were in musical instruments.

I do not know if my bank account won or lost on this one. I think I won, my wife thought I lost!

Pau Ferro... Isn't that Portugese for "Iron Wood"?

Pretty sure it is...  :banghead:
