Cold weather shooting (gloves?)

Was out in the woods today scouting for bunnies but saw none...so I stump shot for a while with my judo-heads. "[dntthnk]"

I had my damascus glove under my leather gloves but it was quite bulky and couldn't get a good bite on the string.

What do y'all wear for cold weather shooting?

I use those cheap brown cotten gloves you find in convieniant stores. Cut off the fingers that go in your shooting glove and put it on over the shooting glove. Invest in one of those hand warmer mitts that you wear around your waist and put in 1 or 2 chemical hand warmers. This set up is very comfortable, inexpensive and most of all works like a charm for me up here in North Jersey winters.

I bought some wool & thinsulate glomitt type mittens from KMart. They were on sale 50% off so I bought two pair. Really warm.

I use a Big Shot and the stalls were just out in front of the half fingers. My bow grip feels a bit different due to the bulk but I practiced with both mitts on until I was confident. Nice to be able to pull the mitten over the fingers to warm up.

Nice warm muff will do the trick. I never wear a glove on my shooting hand and only a thin cotton glove on my bow hand.

Under Armour Cold Gear gloves with fingers cut off on shooting hand. If it is real cold a wool fingerless glove on Bow hand, shooting hand in coat pocket.

I wonder'd about those mittens that you can peel back the fingers to reveal cut-off fingers...seems they would accomodate a shooting glove underneath.

Cabelas makes these really thin leather gloves with a stretch back. They shoot great, then I slide them into a pair of Fleece glomets from sent lock, it works good. If it's bitter out I use Gray Wolfs Glomets over the top.

I like to wear those cheap cotton gloves mentioned above under the shooting glove, and some decent, fingerless, wool gloves on top of my shooting glove.

Isotoner driving gloves are warm, cheap, and fit well. You can shoot with them too, but the tips on your shooting hand will wear out fast. So then you cut the three tips off the shooting hand and wear it over your shooting glove. The bowhand hardly knows it has a glove on. I've had the same pair for about 3 years now. I use them bowshooting and rifleshooting.

If it's really cold I use thost fold-back mittens, since I mainly use a tab, but they will work for gloves as well. I don't try shooting with a bulky glove on....it would have to be seriously cold to try that. Or as suggested above, get a cheap pair and cut off three of the fingers. With a tab, you can wear any gloves and just pull them off to shoot.

I have had this conflict as well. . . the fold back mittens do not work for me on my bow hand as the "bulk" of them is distracting in my site window. I can use them on my shooting glove hand. The hand muff with chemical heateres work good for ultra cold.

One thing I have done- is a nice mitten or wool glove on my bow hand, but then cut out the palm/base thumb area so I can still "feel" the bow grip right. This works well. Keep my hand closed and the open area stays insulated until I am ready to shoot.
