OK guys, you have talked me into making strings, needed just a little nudging, 1/2 of my meager bow collection,10, is not fast flight compatible, the other 1/2 is. What string material is best for the older BW's, Wings, shakespears, etc., and which for the Quinns, Tradtech Pinacle. I was thinking D-97 for the new bows, and good old B-50 for the older ones. In masters of the barebows, Dean Torges suggested 450, a little noiser, but much more durable. All feedback apreciated, if there are any previous threads on this it would help. Thanks guys.

I'd use B50 for the older bows.. D97 for the newer ones..  Or just use the B50 for all..

Dynaflight '97 has worked the best all-around for me, on bows made to accept FF type materials.  It's also my best seller by far in the FF type materials.

Once in a while you'll run across a bow that seems to "like" one material better than another, but usually the difference in noise is due to tuning (or a lack thereof).  You can tinker with the strand count, padded loops, brace height, silencer placement, etc. to change/eliminate string noise.

Not much difference in B-50 and B-500.  Those are your two choices for the older bows.  I use B-500 because I deal with BCY directly.

Any more string makers out there care to chime in, all experience and help welcome.

As a stringmaker I buy direct from both BCY and Brownell but prefer using B50 for older bows.  I stock both B50 and B500 (B500 had some neat neon colors) but the B50 is a little easier for my old fingers to twist as it seems a little softer than the B50.

My preferred fastflight style material is Brownell's S4 compound and when it was discontinued a few years ago I purchased quite a lot before it disappeared! Of course I may outlive my current stock and will have to evaluated all of the currently available stuff when that happens.
