i'm currently shooting 2 setups out of my 54# recurve. setup one- 3555 g/tip aluminium insert, 245gr b/head, 3gr/" wt tube, 30 1/2" BOP to nock groove.
setup two- exactly the same except with a 50gr brass insert.

how much do you think i'll have to cut off the 2nd arrow to retune it? considering it's a 34gr increase in point weight. reason i ask is i'm real close to my minimum length.

when i 1st tried setup two i thought that it flew just as good, but i've come to think that they are a tad bit weak.

Maybe try it first, with carbons they recover quicker.I have had carbons where I changed the point weight by 50 grs. and they still bareshafted and grouped great.

Why not use an aluminum insert?

Why do you have to use the extra 50 grain brass insert?

Why not get the screw in weights that gold tip makes instead of the weight tubes?  You can get them through sipsey river who are sponsors here

jry309- you may be right. i cut one 1/4" shorter today and i really couldn't tell any difference.
