I've been working to get my new (to me) Navajo Caddo dialed in. It came with some sort of low stretch string; the previous owner thought Fast Flight. I thought it was pretty loud, but Kanati's will spoil you that way. I put longer cat whiskers on it and fiddled around with the placement of them. Better, but it still seemed loud to me.

I made up a 10 strand B50 string (pretty close to the diameter of the FF string). It shot good and was noticably quieter, but talk about hand shock! Holy crap! I could not believe the difference. It just thumped the snot out of me! I put the FF back on and braced it at 7". It still makes kind of a doink sound, but at least my joints will stay intact. I may get some D97 and experiment with some O.L. style, skinny strings to see if that takes care of the noise. It probably isn't all that bad, but compared to a Kanati or Mahaska, it is way loud.

Anyway, to the point of this post. This bow will shoot! I messed around with 1916 cut 29" with 145 grain field points, 29" 4560 Carbo Express with 100 grain insert and 125 grain field point (145 made it too weak) and a 50-55 POC cut to 28 1/2" with 125 grain field point. As you can see from the pictures, it's not too picky. Think this dog will hunt?

15 yards - two 1916's, 50-55 POC, and 4560 CE to the right of the others.

20 yards - 1916, 4560 CE, and POC.     :scared:

Russ, the quietest bow I have ever shot, bar none ,was a Roy Hall Caddo. I think you need to look at your string again and that will solve the noise you hear.
I broke my Caddo with a tree stand but I WILL have another one.
I put the "stink" in instinctive archery!

I'm going to order some D97 and make a quiet string. I can't believe this bow can't be quieted down. My quietest is the Mahaska, then the Kanati's. The Caddo should be quiet by design, so I think the string is the culprit. It just shoots too nice to give up on it.

Thanks for the response.
