This buck was at my wife's stand this morning. He was one of 3 or 4 that visited during the evening along with a gaggle of does. I posted a thread a few days ago about the morning movement of bucks thru my property....but this is crazier than I expected. This buck we have never seen before, in real life or on the camera. If I am dreaming please pinch me and wake me up!

Bill I like to be in stand 1 hr before light. around 6:15 am or so is first light so I would be there around 5:00 am... This is how I do it.

As the rut activity begins we see a lot of bucks for the first time that never showed up on our game cameras before. They're out lookin' for potential girlfriends.

Maybe you should just spend the night there Bill.

Dave: Laura has suggested that. If the property wasn't so wet we would set up our tent and do just that or close to it. We had  bucks move thru last year but not as many and of the quality that we are seeing this year. I guess timing really is everything. This past week I've gotten up at 4 AM and I'm in my stand at 5:45 AM. Legal shooting is about 6 AM. Guess I'll have to get up around 3 AM and shoot for being in my stand at 4:45 AM. That should do it, I would think.

Those big guys are not going to stand for you walking in at twilight.

Uh, didn't you say that this as your   wife's stand?
If I were she, and you valued your kneecaps, you would sleep in and have coffee and brawn ready when I came back home with the buck. I'd need help hoisting it up to hang.

Killy: It is my wife's stand and I hear you. I have worked very hard to get her into a position to kill one of the bucks we know are hanging around. One of my personal goals this year was to not shoot a deer on our place until Laura connected with one buck in particular. However, our cameras (they used to be just "mine") have shown quite a number of high quality bucks. My stand is about 100 yards away and the deer seem to use them both at about the same time and she has suggested that it would be "OK" if I shoot any of the bucks since there seems to be plenty to go around.  It's funny how it works, though. What used to be "ours" suddenly becomes "hers" when the big guys show up. Actually I would be more excited if she connected than if I did....well, sort of. You know what I mean. By the way, right after we got home and looked at the pics she handed me her quiver to make sure her broadheads were sharp. They are!!!!!!

Ken: I hear ya man...sometimes this bowhunting physically hurts.
