I am going to order some new strings for a few bows. One is a 52 AMO Ben Pearson Spectre, and the another is a 58 AMO Wing. I know to get Dacron strings. How many strands and what length should I get? Both are 45 pounds.  Thanks!

You'll be fine with 12 strands.

Confirm this, but if memory serves:

Recurve strings are "generally" ordered 4" shorter than AMO, Longbows 3" shorter...

Generally yes... The best way is to measure your old string.  Otherwise if you have no string go by the 4" shorter.  Stil you may need to figure out the exact correct string length for your bow.

The AMO standard states that an AMO string length will give the proper brace height when made 3" shorter than the AMO bow length.  Even though most bows are marked AMO such and such few conform to the standard..

I keep a log of the strings I make for various bows and the correct length..
Damn Nice guy
