Well I just got back from my first full day of deer hunting and had a blast. Lotsa exercise met a few other hunters and had good conversations, saw a coyote, and many grouse. Cut me a 7' vine maple bow in the making.I didn't see any deer though. I did on the other hand break in my new High Hill recurve with a great 20 yard shot on a rabbit. The bad part though is I could'nt bring myself to prep him for eating after retrieving him I noticed his left eye was gone and the socket was rotten and smelled foul,. I hate wasted game always makes me feel bad no matter the circumstance.

Nothing in nature is wasted!  If it was doubtful about the rabbits health you did right by leaving it for another creature to use for nourishment.
Other than that sounds like you had a great opening weekend.     Pat

Don't feel bad,  You probably prevented a longer painful death by infection.

Sounds like a great day in the woods.

I can understand your feeling. I feel you made the right choice though. Some other animal will use it.

Wasted?  Nah - you have rabbit flavored coyote bait.

Know how you feel but, don't worry, it won't be there in the morning. (nut)
