This was outside my door the other night and I thought that is one of the most beautiful camo patterns I have ever seen. The pictures just don't do the true colors justice but i tried

You might want to take a look at www.mothwing.com. Their camo pattern is based on the moth's unique camo pattern.

I have seen moth wing camo before and it's nice but It's nice to see the real thing up close.

roger what BobW said. The gaboon viper has one of the best proprietary camo patterns nature produces. They can blend into just about anything solid colors included. Unfortunately I know too well. Not quite bitten though.

Are you a fan? You seem very knowledgeable about those guys.

We've got some that visit our Tiger Lillies at dusk each day. Haven't been able to see one up close and personal bedause they don't hang around and I don't have the heart to knock one of them down. Did an internet search and found that they are commonly called "Hummingbird Moths" and they are the adult version of Horn Worms. Pretty neat to see them hovering over my flowers and taking a sip.

Had one walk on my arm last nite just before dark. I take my small TV out side and watch DVD's & Tape's. Last nite I was watching dish 1 of 2 on the Traditional Easton Bowhunting TV w/ Fred Eichler. Going to watch dish 2 Tonite.

I had a Pandora Sphinx on my balcony many years ago. As is my habit, I took a picture and then looked it up. The neatest caterpillars I ever saw were on same balcony, once, two parsley swallowtails! They were on..um...my parsley. I was idly gazing over it, when one stalk fell over. Naturally, I investigated. Way cool! Very psychedelic. I should scan that slide onto something digital.

Moths very often survive through the efficacy of their camoflage. It certainly isn't because of their brainworks! The animals will teach us everything that we have the senses to perceive.
