New to traditional

hey everyone!
Im 15 to be 16 this winter and am a totall novice at traditional hunting and new to this site.  Ive hunted from a tree stand with a compound, but i am trying to go a little more hardcore on the ground spot and stalk type hunting.  any tips or peices of advice?  thanks a ton! -lee

Welcome aboard.  Good advice so far, keep the wind in your face, stay downwind of bedding areas, move slow and be prepared.  Look for parts of deer rather than the whole animal.  Most of all, don't take all the fun out of it.

Don't know how you spot and stalk in Texas, but I bet you need some soft soled shoes to stay quiet. I could give a few tips for the midwest, but I don't think they would apply to your state.

I've had some limited success on the gound here in central Texas. Not so much stalking as it is spot and intercept trying to get in front of them and setting up (wind permitting) in front of where they are moving. usually very hot and dry(noisy) here in October. Very fun...but there are fewer snakes in the trees  : )

look long and hard because when you "think" your close your right on top of them. ive been twenty yards from so many deer and closer and never even known it. Let your clothes hang out doors for at least a couple days before your hunt and dont put them on till you are ready to leave. wear scent block style deoderant. Wash your clothes in backing soda.
