I just lay my belt sander on its side at the edge of my workbench.  I run some long screws into the bench near the front, rear, and handle to steady it.  Turn it on, lock it on and apply feather in straight clamp.  Works great.

Barry,
The best part about the belt sander is that it's flat.  You may need to make a temporary jig to guide your feather clamp so yo won't dig the quill to deep and the grind will be consistant.  Good luck!

I just took 2 pieces of light weight thin scrape metal about 7x4 inches and clamped them with those springy heavy duty black paper clips the kind that fold back down against themselves. I don't know what they are called got them at the work store.

I'll second that, Charlie. I built one with a few adaptations for my needs. Works great. Jawge

I made my clamp by cutting two pieces of plywood and bolting them together with two small bolts with wing nuts. Works fine with the belt sander.
