Muzzy has a new head for 2008 called the SG-X that is actually a small-game head with a judo-style point and Muzzy's wicked Trocar tip screwed on the front. The SG-X weighs 100 grains.

Beachie,  LOL  I would'nt want to shoot it at a tree stump either.  I bet it would out perform a field tip or judo though, especially in a penetration test.  :rolleyes:     I just checked prices from different suppliers and they are not cheap,

I have seen some hex head failures at close range too.   I have said it before and will again but for ground shots and good backstop shots without concern for what is behind the target a cheap broadhead is still more effective...  depending on the cost. This is still a fairly decent looking small game head! IMHO

There are a couple problems with any type of head with those spring arms for small game. One they catch on brush and such on the way thru to critters like rabbits and tree-rats. Number two is they stick into trees and such and on overhead shots ya have a hard time getting them back and finally they are pricey. I can buy a dozen blunts for the cost of one of those heads and if I am shooting small game that need something with a sharp point to kill it, I will shoot a broadhead. Shawn

I have used the "judo" points for shooting gophers, and they are great, as your arrow doesn't end up buried under the grass.
Sometimes the spring arms do screw up your shot, but not losing shafts is a bonus.
The Muzzy head looks pretty serious, if one is shooting sod poodles.
I can understand the problem when one is shooting at tree rats. I don't climb trees very well, anymore. And leaving good arrows around as crow perches, doesn't sound appealing to me.

I have some of the muzzy grasshoppers.  It is just the spring arm piece and screws on behind a blunt or field point.  I'm not impressed with their performance.  For stump shooting I prefer a judo.  The spring arms on the muzzy are too thin and bend out of shape too easily.  Looking at the above picture I think the muzzy grasshopper is the same piece that they have behind the point on the SG-X.

I will add to my post that they do look like a nice head but again I myself would not go to the exspense of having them, lots of other cheap stuff that works as well or better. I do agree 125 grains would of got more Traditional guys and gals! Shawn
