Butcher's Wax

Anybody use Butcher's Wax on their bows?  I bought a pound of it and I'm going to try it on my bows.

are you talking about Butcher's Wax?

If so, yes I've been using this stuff for years. I have not found anything more economical or easier to use that protects my bows this well.

Yes, I'm talking about Butcher's Wax.  I guess Butch's Wax is what you would use on a flat top!

Where do you find it?

I did a Google search and bought it off the internet.  There's several different kinds.  It's actually bowling alley wax.  I'm not sure whether I would want to use one of the styles they offer.  It says it cures to a hardened finish.  I don't know that I would want that on the limbs of my bows.

Here's a link to the company I bought it from.  I bought the clear wax.  I was afraid the amber would change the appearance of the woods in my bows.

Bill, all of them cure to a hard finish.  It's good stuff.  I like it better than the Minwax paste wax, but I couldn't find the stuff last time I needed to buy it

So the hardening of the wax causes no problems with limb action?  Do you apply a thin coat?

the hardening does not effect the limbs at all. Yes thin coats. I usually do about 3-4 coats buffing between coats.

Have you all tried it on wood arrows? I like to wax my woodies to make them easier to pull from some 3-D's and pratice bales. I use minwax now but it is only good for a few shots.
