i have a zona take down on order, 58" 55# @ 28" with my compounds i shoot 29" , im wanting to shoot carbons out of it, everybody is talking about brass inserts and such. heres my problem

do i really have to use 100grain inserts to make the carbons fly? im lookin for arrow weight around 500 grains.

any and all help is appriciated.

thanks

Cherokee Scout

A Gold Tip 5575 or a CX Heritage 150 would shoot well from a 55# bow with no brass insert. You may need a 150-175 grain point.
But, in trad bow shooting the spine of the shaft is critical to good arrow flight, especially with broadheads.

The weight upfront does help me to get the flight characteristics and penetration I want - but - there is another reason to consider using brass inserts - they are more resilent than aluminum inserts.

ok , so what arrows do you recommend for a 55# 58" 28" recurve, like i said im looking for around 500grains if not more. i was thinking the easton axis, or beman mfx or ics hunters for shafts and 5" sheild cut chartruse feathers with a chartruse wrap.

also can anybody give me the skinny on weight tubes, are they needed? recommended?

I shoot wood so I can't help with arrow choice but remember the string type will make a big difference in what spine you'll be needing.
