I was tillering a three lam wood bow.. and it cracked...hickory,paduck,and osage..finnaly got it down where I could string it..put it on the tiller tree..looks good..streched it 30-40 times 10-12 inches..took more wood off.. restrung with shorter string..hickory cracked 2" long in center of bottom limb 6-8 inch down from handle..too agressive or thats just the way it goes...?   :banghead:

Did it crack across the back or along the back? If across then either it had a very bad grain violation or it had a fungi problem. Any pics?     Pat

Pat, it cracked on the face of the bow..about  two inches long ..I'd say I could fit two tooth picks side by side inside the hole it made..kinda big grain hickory..no pictures yet ..I am going to figure that out today if its the only thing I do today..

Depending on the glue you used and the extent of the damage you might be able to remove the broken backing with a bit of heat and replace it with another backing.     Pat
