Does anyone have a magical way to hold a one-piece bow and spray the entire bow with finish?  Or, do I have to do most of it and come back and hit the parts where it is hung?  I am planning on using the Massey finish so it will take a few hours to dry to the touch.

I just sprayed a one piece longbow that I made for my son.  I loosely tied sewing thread around the string grooves and hung it up from the garage opener.  After the spray dried, I pulled the string off and you can't tell it was there, especially when a bow string is on.

tie the nock end with string and hang from rafters or tree branch then tie the other end to a stake in the ground so that it dont spin when ya spray. there ya go that  should work. good luck on that. wolfman jeff

Thanks, TradGangers, I was thinking along those same lines so now I know what works.

The bowyer that I worked with did the same as described except every coat he would switch the bow from one end to the other.  He claimed it would make the coats more even. dino

When I watched my Black Widow video, it looks like they have something they screw into where the inserts go and manurve it around with some sort of handle .

When I use a spray I like to rest it horizontal and do back one day belly next.. It you hang from one end there is a whole lot of vertical surface to sag or run.

You fellows spraying finishes are being sure to do so in well-ventilated areas, aren't you? Some of the products available can produce quite an inhalation effect. Also, skin absorption can be a problem with some. Please take the time to understand your chemicals!

You could drill a 1mm hole thru the upper limb tip, and hang the bow using very fine monofilament fish line.

You could spray the entire bow at once, using thin coats to prevent runs in the finish.

I suppose you could drill both upper and lower limb tips thread monfilament thru these holes, suspend, and then spray with the bow in a horizontal position.

I do what Earl E does, though flipping the vertically hung bow end for end between each coat would probably do the same thing.
