Zwickey 4 Blade

I want to set up some Zwickey 4 Blade Broadheads.  However, when I glue one to an adapter, there's glue all in the "hole" where the bleeders are.  What do you do to keep this area clean and without gobs of glue or does it matter?

If you are using wood arrows, Bear made a thin metal tool to clean and cut a slot. If your using aluminum adapters or steel, I would use a thin jig saw blade or hack saw to slot them. Before slotting, put the head on to align it then use a fine tip, or felt tip permanent marker to mark the adapter or wood so you can see the area to cut. If you use hot melt glue, use the Bear tool to clean out the slot. I am not sure what inserts you will be adding, but if the slot is a bit wide, you will need to use a drop of hot melt glue to keep the insert from dropping out.

When I used the Zwickey four blade, I just let the glue cool slightly and wiped it out of the opening with my finger the best I could. It would always leave just a tad bit sometimes at the bottom of the bleeder but that never bothered me. The bleeders were always a pain to sharpen (for me) so I just eventually went with the two blade versions which I still use today.

The Bear Razorhead always worked well with the slot blade.

I remove the runout glue with a knife.

I do what black velvet does.  Just scrape it out with a knife.  I try to do it before the hot melt glue sets up too hard.  I also try to not use too much glue.  If you're using epoxy, you'll need to wipe it off before it sets up.

I use Devon two part epoxy when glueing my 4 blades Zwickey on wood and aluminum I just wipe off excess glue with paper towel

I just cut it out with a knife while it is still pliable

Let it harden then chip it out with a small knife point. It breaks up once it is hard.
