I hunted turkey off and on for many days season. I usually hunt 3 to 4 days then return home. I passed up 3 jakes early on and then took one at 10 yards after he came into decoys following a hen. He was full strut nearly straight on, but slight quartering. He ran about 25 yards and went into the thicket. I had a TradTracker string on him, and it worked great.
I called in 10 toms closer than 20 yards during the season, but only had a shot at one. He too followed a hen into 15 yards. I took him at 15 yards broadside. He ran into thicket about 60 yards. I had a string on him too. Very thick honeysuckle and autumn olive. Mike

Congrats Mike. Way to get it done. Did you use a ground blind. Or were you up against a tree. Some very nice pics

I got a chance to hunt two properties. One is mostly CRP with an adjacent to an oak-woods. I don't have permission for the woods, so I have to call them out of the woods or across the CRP field and get them to cross a road about 400 yards away. The other place is grown over strip-mine, so basically heavy brush with grass two tracks. So, it's best to hunt out of blinds. I usually set up two or three and then still hunt and call my way to them. I like to film as well, so the blinds work better for that.

What decoys were working best for you?

I use Flextone thunder chic and thunder jake decoys. Set at about 8 yards facing the blind. Usually, the jake just behind the hen, and other times the hen 4 feet forward and to right of jake. MIke

Congratulation's Mike!
YOU DONE GOOD!
The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is nowhere as important as being able to place it in the correct spot.
